Who can apply?
EU organisations and actors from across the organic value chain matching the eligibility criteria – including past applicants! – are encouraged to apply.
Seven categories will be awarded with eight awards:
- Best organic farmer (female and male)
- Best organic region
- Best organic city
- Best organic “bio district”
- Best organic food processing SME
- Best organic food retailer
- Best organic restaurant/food service
The Commission’s EU Organic Awards webpage is available in all EU languages, as are documents with practical guidelines and an introduction.
Why apply?
In short: Recognition and visibility await!
While the EU Organic Awards are non-financial, the recognition and visibility gained are invaluable. Past finalists and winners have received extensive coverage from local, national, and international media, amplifying their initiative and impact across borders.
Moreover, the Commission will make a video of winning initiatives. They will also be invited to Brussels for the prestigious awards ceremony on EU Organic Day, on Monday 23 September 2024.
What are the rules for applying?
Documents with practical guidelines and an introduction are available to potential applicants in all official EU languages. This includes a filled-in form as an example for applicants.

If you know of a great initiative that isn’t eligible to apply to the EU Organic Awards, there are some other options to make it visible.
EUorganic2030.bio collects initiatives demonstrating leadership in making the organic movement’s Vision for 2030 happen. If you believe the initiative works towards fair, environmentally conscious, healthy, and caring food and farming systems across Europe in line one of the below pillars, consider submitting it!
If it is eligible, the initiative will be featured in the ‘Leading by Example’ section of www.euorganic2030.bio and in IFOAM Organics Europe’s communication were appropriate.
